Terms of Service
By using markdowntodoc you agree to the following. The service is free, runs in your browser, and we make no claim to your content.
Effective:
1. Acceptance
By accessing or using markdowntodoc (the "Service") at markdowntodoc.app/markdowntodoc you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service description
markdowntodoc is a free, browser-based Markdown to Word (.docx) converter. The Service is provided as-is. Features, supported syntax, and output format may change at any time without notice. See the changelog for the version history.
There is no paid tier, no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark, and no required account. The Service is supported by optional donations and affiliate links.
3. Eligibility
The Service is available to anyone able to load a web page. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with applicable local laws.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the image proxy to retrieve content from URLs you do not control or have no right to access. The proxy is provided as a convenience to embed images from referer-protected hosts into your own documents; it is not an open web crawler.
- Use the Service to generate documents that contain illegal content, including content that infringes intellectual property rights, contains malware, or is intended to harass or defraud others.
- Attempt to disrupt the Service, including by automated requests at a rate that exceeds normal browser usage, by attempting to bypass rate-limiting or abuse protections, or by probing the infrastructure for vulnerabilities.
- Misrepresent the output of the Service as the work of another person or entity, or use it in a manner that violates any applicable law or regulation.
5. Your content
You retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Markdown text, images, and other content you submit to the Service. Because the Service runs in your browser and we have no server-side processing of your content, we make no claim to it and cannot use it, share it, or monetize it.
The output .docx file is yours to use for any lawful purpose, including commercial use.
6. Our content
The Service itself — the source code, the design, the page copy, the logos, and the favicon — is the property of the markdowntodoc maintainers and is released under the license specified in the GitHub repository. You may link to the Service and quote from the documentation with attribution.
7. Third-party services
The Service loads fonts that may be subject to the licenses of their respective owners (DM Sans, JetBrains Mono, Merriweather). See the FAQ for details. The Markdown parser (marked) and the Word document generator (docx) are open-source libraries used under their respective licenses.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE MD2DOC MAINTAINERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated, and material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the maintainers reside, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
12. Contact
For questions about these Terms, see the contact page.
